On The Road With Deans Gutters (May)

May has been a very busy month for us with lots of regular clients having there annual gutter clearance’s, but also this month we targeted Alton with a leaflet drop, this brings in new enquires from new clients who l hope will become regular clients for years to come.

As it turned out between recommendations and new clients we saw lots of new clients this month, however lots of these houses hadn’t had the gutters cleared for some time, so lots of blocked down pipes, along with a few more gutter repairs than normal.  The most important thing about unblocking down pipes is to ensure everything is flushed through after to ensure everything is free flowing. Here are some of the examples of blockages and obstructions from this month. 

May is also a popular month for gutter cleaning service, once again little bit of settled weather gets people out into there gardens, so it’s understandable the influx in cleaning jobs. As always l like to pop by beforehand and have a look at the work that needs to be carried out, l would normally do a gutter clearence & clean on the same day, get everything out the way in one go, a standard gutter clean includes gutters, fascia, soffits and down pipes, here are couple of examples from work we have done in Farnham & Petersfield. 

Blocked water butts are more common than you may think, the joint that is fitted into the down pipe gets blocked over time, this causes the rainwater to fill up the down pipe back into the gutters, and normally ends in a constant drip until the joint is unblocked. The way we tackle this blockage is, unclip the goose neck at gutter height, then loosen the down pipe clips and lift the down pipe to expose the water butt joint, word of warning l know from experience STAND BACK any rainwater left in down pipe will gush everywhere.

Looking into June, we are really dependant on the weather, as always when it rains, blocked down pipes and broken gutter joints keeps us busy, if we get settled weather, it will be lots of gutter cleaning.
